The Network Stewards
Alberta Nonprofit Network includes organizations from every corner of the province, urban and rural. The ABNN Network Stewards help guide the work of ABNN, motivated by the priorities and voices of those in the sector.
The Network Stewards guide the development of ABNN to achieve its purpose. This group is responsible for ABNN’s leadership and vision, engagement, communication, evaluation, coordination, process and workflow management, and funding.

Karen Ball – Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations
Karen has been a thought leader and collaborator in key cultural planning initiatives in Alberta over the last 20+ years, including leading multi-stakeholder consultation for the potential 2026 Olympic and Paralympic bid; the creation of the City of Calgary’s Culture Plan; and as part of the Premier’s Council for Culture to advance Alberta’s cultural prosperity and contribution to Canada 150. Karen also served on CCVO’s Board of Directors until 2019. Her work focuses on innovative communities and systems to support healthy nonprofit operations, capital development, and place-making, providing expertise to organizations wishing to build deep and meaningful connections with their communities of stakeholders and supporters.
Gemma Dunn – Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations
Gemma Dunn is the Executive Director of the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, a leading resource and advocate for Alberta’s charities and nonprofit organizations. She is a seasoned nonprofit thought leader with over 20 years of experience in the sector, including 15 years in capacity building where she is recognized for her ability to tackle complex issues. Gemma’s passion has driven her to work very closely with communities and non-profit organizations to
create innovative solutions and develop systems that support a thriving non-profit sector. Her work focuses on sector transformation, leadership development and strengthening the evidence base for voluntary action. She believes that building authentic relationships and deepening connection within the sector will ultimately lead to better outcomes for all.
Mike Grogan – IntegralOrg
Mike has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years and is recognized for his ability to inspire nonprofit organizations to tackle complex issues and create sustainable solutions to organizational and community issues. His skills and experience stem from a diverse background that encompasses leading backcountry wilderness trips, building organizations from the ground up, and developing leading-edge collaborative and capacity-building initiatives.
Mike’s passion is helping organizations understand the ever-evolving ecosystem and working with organizational teams to build capacities to respond and adapt to a changing environment. From program lifecycle analysis, to change management, and sector network development, Mike has worked with diverse stakeholders to design programs and systems to meet the changing needs of nonprofit organizations and of the nonprofit sector.
Miki Stricker-Talbot – Volunteer Alberta
While Volunteer Alberta has been a Network Steward since the early days of ABNN, Mike Stricker-Talbot is new to the Steward table.
Miki is the Executive Director at Volunteer Alberta. Along with being a Global Fellow with the League of Intrapreneurs, Miki is also a BMW Foundation Responsible Leader, an Avenue Magazine Top-40-Under-40 alumna, and a recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal.
Amanda Jensen – Volunteer Lethbridge
Amanda oversees all aspects of Volunteer Lethbridge, from community development to connecting and supporting volunteers and non-profits. Her devotion for bringing people together inspires every aspect of her work, and her wish is for everyone who connects with Volunteer Lethbridge to have the greatest experience possible.
For the majority of her career, Amanda has worked in the non-profit sector, including, Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, Community Futures, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Amanda holds an M.A. from the University of Guelph in Leadership, as well as a Business Management Degree from the University of Lethbridge. She is currently an instructor in the non-profit Management Program at Mount Royal University.
